Here is Rama’s winning entry:

 

One day before Christmas, my beloved pet, a 12-year-old, kelpie-terrier-cross, displayed her usual devotion and followed me into the garage where her canine inquisitiveness got the better of her.

While I was turning one corner of the garage upside down looking for specific project papers, Tasha was busy sniffing around in every nook and cranny!
Initially, I kept a keen eye on her, but after 15 minutes I became engrossed in reading the books I was looking for and didn’t worry about her immediately. Eventually, I walked out, calling out to Tasha to follow me, then locked the door.
About 10 minutes later, I put the books down on the table wondering why Tasha was not sitting on the veranda with me (as she usually does).

A quick search in the house and the garden proved fruitless.

After shouting her name out aloud several times I could hear sad howling and the garage door being scratched.
Much to my chagrin I thought, “Heavens above! I’ve locked her in the garage!” Now when we go to the garage Tasha makes sure that she’s the first one to get out through the door!
