Celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Ox at your favourite restaurant.
Say Gong Xi Fa Cai or Happy Chinese New Year at your favourite restaurant and celebrate in style!
Most restaurants have special menus for the year of the Ox and certain foods have special significance for the new year. Seafood is a highlight, especially prawns, as they are called ``har’’ in Chinese, symbolising the sound of laughter and happiness. And what about yee sang or yusheng, the delicious seafood salad, made here from the freshest Australian salmon and tossed as high as possible with a multitude of complementary ingredients such as lettuce, carrot shreds, sesame seeds, yam crisps, pickled onion, pomelo, pickled ginger and chopped peanuts, tastefully arranged on a large platter? A sweet tangy sauce is drizzled over the ingredients.
The belief is that the higher the salad is tossed, the greater your prosperity, so Happy New Year to everyone!
